5 week ASDAN Short Courses 16:00

Become a Blogger: 5-Week Course

Blogging is more than just writing online—it’s about expressing yourself, connecting with an audience, and building your personal brand. This 5-week course will guide you step by step, from launching your blog to presenting it proudly to family and friends.

Week 1: Starting Your Blog

Learn the fundamentals of blogging and set the foundation for your online space. You’ll choose a blogging platform, set up your blog, and explore different blog styles and formats. By the end of the week, you’ll have your blog live and ready for content.

Week 2: Creating Your Visual Content

A blog isn’t just about words—visuals bring it to life. This week focuses on creating and curating images, graphics, and design elements that fit your blog’s theme. You’ll learn the basics of free design tools, photography tips, and how to make your posts visually engaging.

Week 3: Telling Your Story

Every great blog has a voice. This week helps you discover yours. You’ll practise writing engaging posts, learn how to structure stories that connect with readers, and find your unique perspective. The goal is to help you write with confidence and authenticity.

Week 4: Finding Your Brand

Branding is what makes your blog recognisable. You’ll explore colour palettes, fonts, taglines, and themes that reflect your personality and message. This week is all about consistency—creating a look and feel that sets your blog apart.

Week 5: Presentation to Family and Friends

The final week is about sharing your hard work. You’ll prepare and present your blog to family and friends, showcasing your design, content, and vision. This celebration allows you to reflect on your progress and receive feedback from your first audience.

THURSDAY

School Holiday Activities 11:00

Are you ready to join one of TikTok’s spookiest art trends? In this workshop, participants will turn ordinary, thrifted paintings into ghostly masterpieces—just like the viral “thrifted ghost painting” artworks popping up all over social media.

We’ll start by selecting a second hand or low-cost print or canvas. Then, you’ll layer cute or creepy ghost figures on top—blending in with the original artwork, adding atmosphere, glow, and that haunting aesthetic everyone’s talking about. You’ll explore creative techniques using acrylics, pens, blending, shading, and texture to make your ghost look like it’s part of the scene.

No advanced painting skills required—this is for anyone who loves Halloween, upcycling art, and making something uniquely spooky. By the end, you will take home a finished “ghosted” painting ready to display, gift, or share online (of course).

School Holiday Activities 14:30

Get ready for a session of colour, creativity, and festival fun! In this hands-on workshop, children will step into their very own mini festival, packed with exciting activities and plenty of sparkle.

Bucket Hat Art – decorate your own festival hat with paints, patterns, and personality.
Festival Flag Making – design bold, bright flags to wave and take home.
Mini Disco – dance under the lights to your favourite tunes.
