RECORDING STUDIO
Our state of the art fully equipped recording studio, live room and practice space is probably one of Portishead’s best kept secrets.
This is available for use by both young people and the general public. Our 32 channel Amex Tac Matchless analogue mixing console is the centrepiece of our control room, linked up to Apple Mac computers running Logic Pro for professional quality mixing and mastering. This is patched through to our acoustically balanced control room.
Adding to our equipment, the live room features an acoustic drum kit, amps, microphones and stands and a plug in-and-play PA system, so any artists can turn up with their personal instruments and start jamming, without having to worry about your neighbours at home complaining!Please note that we are a youth and community centre, with amazing music and recording facilities including a experienced professional Recording Studio Manager, but we are not a 100% soundproofed space. Our building is used by a number of different groups and activities, so there may be limitations of when we are able to hire out this space, depending on your intended use. We will work closely with you to understand your requirements, and suggest suitable dates and times that you can book - whether this is for a professional recording or a practise session. Our availability may mean limited or no access for safeguarding reasons (due to activities for children or young people running at the time), or may be limited due of the soundproofing of our space, and other groups using our building. Please email us to discuss your requirements and we will give you details of dates and times that the studio is available based on your requirements.

Who can we work with?
There is no recording group too small or large. By using the adjacent Dance Studio as a recording room, we can accommodate large recording groups such as choirs, orchestras and bands and we have the facilities in house to burn your work onto CD.
An experienced sound engineer can be provided to guide you through your studio time if required.
With qualified, experienced professionals on board, we are also able to provide master classes on the software we use, allowing you to learn more about the recording, mixing and mastering process.

Our Studio Services
Portishead Youth Centre's Studio is on hand to help you learn, create and collaborate musically. We have decades of experience of working with a range of artists to capture their creativity and skills. We are keen to support new talent from young people, so are able to offer reduced prices for our services for young people aged 11-19, and youth groups - please email us for more information.
Recording
Our Studio Manager Nick will be on hand to support you with your recording needs. Whether you are wanting to lay down one track or a portfolio worth of music, Nick will help you record your work. £27.50/hour for recording time
Mixing and mastering
Once you have all your music recorded, it's time to mix and master! Our Studio Manager Nick will take your recordings and finish them to a professional standard, ready to download to CD or share further afield. Costings vary dependent on extent of work required - contact Nick for a personalised quote.
Logic Pro tuition
We use industry standard Logic Pro for our music recording and production, and you could learn the ins and outs of this system for yourself! Our Studio Manager Nick will introduce you to the functionalities of this system and give you tips on how to get the best out of your music. £25 per hour on a 1:1 basisPlease enquire for group rates
Logic Pro rehearsal
If you are simply looking for access to equipment and software to create your own digital music, look no further! You will be provided with a login for our system to work on your own music, which you can then export at the end of your session. You must have experience of working with Logic Pro as no support will be available during your booking. £12.50 per hour
